VCCool Newsletter                                 December 31, 2008

Dear Climate Change Activists,

It's the last day of 2008. The nation seems poised to take actions toward real planetary care. We at VCCool look back over our two years of existence and see the many events, policy comments, presentations, and actions we've been involved in. We now have over 400 members, and are taking the classes and bringing on more board members and advisory members that will help us become a stronger and broader organization.

Come to think of it - one really amazing thing about the end of 2008, is that we're still here!! Wow - Cool! We're gearing up for our first "Vision Retreat," new web format, and several new "Pods" (our new name for focus groups).

We wish you and yours a wonderful, low carbon new year! And we look forward to taking on the 2009 global warming challenge with your support and that of hundreds of other VCCool members.

We hope you enjoy our only article as the Year-End treat. A sign that the nation has it's feet in the clips, and with your help, is ready for a national sprint toward an 80% carbon emissions reduction by 2050.

Warm Regards,

-From the folks of VCCool

The Gift and the Challenge of a New Year

"My presidency will mark a new chapter in America's leadership on climate change that will start when I take office...

We'll establish strong annual targets that set us on course to reduce emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, and reduce them an additional 80% by 2050.

Delay is no longer an option. Denial is no longer an acceptable response. The stakes are too high, the consequences too serious."
