VCCool Newsletter                                                                    May 10, 2010

Dear VCCoolers,

Come fight-back at our "15 for Prop 15" house parties, and keep big money out of California Politics!

Big Texas oil money is trying to freeze our California Global Warm Act. Outsider corporate dollars are aimed at Barbara Boxer - one of the nation's most powerful advocates for strong climate protection laws. Even in the Ventura County Board of Supervisor race outside oil, tobacco, and casino money is trying to decide who our candidates are.

It makes me sick!

Elections should be WON not BOUGHT!

Join us at one of our Fair Elections house parties, May 15 and May 19, and let's keep local decisions local, and state decisions about state well-being.

  • Did you know the bulk of campaign finance comes from outside voting districts?
  • Did you know that 93% of elections are won by the candidate that had the most campaign money?
  • Did you know that seven other states and two cities are already enjoying Fair Public Elections?

This is the first time in 22 years, that a public funded "fair elections" option has made it to the California ballot!

Who foots the bill in Prop 15? Lobbyists Fees! You heard me. The guys that make the big bucks fighting for corporate control will fund "publicly funded" candidates. And if a public funded candidate takes corporate money - they could find themselves in the clink! To get a foot in the door, Prop 15 is starting off with just the office of Secretary of State - but the ban for publicly funded local elections will also be lifted. (Do you believe it? There is actually a moratorium on having fair election local campaigns.)

Join the party, and let's protect our climate and our elections!
