Ventura Biodiesel Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
Wednesday, January 31th
10:00 AM
USA gas station
2661 Thompson Boulevard, Ventura, CA 93003
If you're familiar with home-grown Biodiesel fuel, then you've probably heard of Joshua
Tickell. Nationally known Biodiesel spokes-person and author of the excellent
book, "From the Fryer to the Fuel Tank," Joshua will be in Ventura,
Wednesday, January 31st. He is the featured speaker for the ribbon cutting
ceremony of Ventura's own Biodiesel gas station (USA gas station featured in our
December newsletter). Mayor Morehouse will be there, as well as "important
luminaries in the biofuels world ."
It's tough to for some of us to get off during the workday, I know. Organizers hope for as many people as possible to show strong support for alternatives to fossil fuels. Try to get there promptly, as parking could be tight and Joshua is among the first speakers.

The Ventura County Transportation Commission is Ventura County's regional Transportation planning entity. They get and distribute all the state and federal money. This is where the Transportation action is.
Twice a year they hold "Unmet Needs" hearings where the community can testify about their unmet Transportation needs.
The next hearing will be on Monday, Feb 5, at the convenient time of 1:30-3:30 pm, at the Camarillo City Hall. If people can't make the hearing, they can send emails of their comments to vkamhi@goventura.org.
Here is the link to the flyer on their website.
If people really want to make a difference regarding Transportation in Ventura County,
they need to participate in this process.

How Can We Avoid Dangerous Human-Made Climate Change?
Monday, February 5
8 pm
UCSB Campbell Hall
Mesa Road,
Goleta, CA
In 1988 NASA scientist James Hansen first made the greenhouse effect world news when he testified before a Senate committee that "The greenhouse effect has been detected, and it is changing our climate now." Hansen is now arguably the world's leading researcher on global warming and well-respected because of the continued accuracy of his findings. In 2006, Hansen's message is "The window of opportunity to make changes that will avoid disastrous effects is not more than 10 years." We have less than 10 years before what Hansen calls a "global tipping point" is reached and which point global warming becomes unstoppable.
James Hansen is speaking FREE at UCSB on February 5.
